Grocery Stores

For over three decades, Westhues Electric, Inc has been the leader in grocery store electrical construction, maintenance and service. Our customer base includes Price Choppers, Hy-Vee Food Stores, Aldi’s, Sunfresh stores, Festival Foods and many smaller grocery stores.

Our expertise lies in the refrigeration controls and termination. The five original owners started their electrical careers wiring primarily grocery stores and refrigeration controls. They were well trained with many years of experience before starting Westhues Electric. This skill and knowledge have been passed on to the next generation of electricians at Westhues Electric. In addition to the many local stores built in the Kansas City area, several of our customers request we travel regionally to build and service stores for them in the western Kansas area, Nebraska, southeast and northeast Missouri area and Iowa.

With this expertise in refrigeration controls, refrigeration contractors trust us to complete their service, repair and replacement on their equipment supplied to grocery stores, box stores, and cold storage warehouse facilities. Westhues Electric Service Department’s electricians are on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to daily and after hour emergencies. Each Service department electrician drives one of our fully stocked commercial cargo vans; no unnecessary trips to the supply house for standard parts. In addition to every type of electrical installation, we service parking lot, building and pole lighting.

Infrared Electrical Inspections & Switch Gear Maintenance Services

Infrared electrical inspections find hot spots caused by defects in connections and components. Infrared thermal imaging is used to find areas of excess heat (caused by increased resistance) so that problems can be corrected before a component fails causing costly damage to the equipment, creating safety hazards and/or productivity loss.

Because increased heating is a sign of failure, infrared is the best diagnostic tool available for finding these hot connections in the early stages of degeneration. 

During Switch Gear Maintenance all distribution panels and disconnects are cleaned, and visually inspected. Lugs and bolts are tightened back to factory specs. All moveable pieces on equipment (handles, latches, etc) are exercised and lubricated.

Westhues Electric has a dedicated team of professionals that perform both the infrared scans and switch gear maintenance services. An internal report is created after the services are conducted for the customer which includes thermal images with temperature readings, a severity rating, and recommendations for potential deficiencies.
